The man who held police at bay in a 16 hour standoff at a Conway hospital last week will stay behind bars until he goes to trial.

On Monday, a federal judge in Florence denied bond for Robert McGowan, Junior.

He is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The 42-year-old showed up at the emergency room entrance to the Conway Medical Center last Tuesday night.

Police say he had a gun and refused to leave when he was confronted by security.

Negotiators eventually convinced McGowan to hand over his weapon and surrender peacefully.
