One person dies in house fire

House fire on highway 134 in Horry County.  / Jestin Henry

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) - Horry County Fire Rescue and Conway Fire Department crews responded to a house fire late Saturday night. When firefighters arrived at the home on highway 134 flames were showing.

HCFR Public Information Officer Leslie Yancey says two people were inside the home. One person died.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says the victim is James A. Smith, 64. He died from smoke inhalation.

Yancey says the second victim was was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor burns.

The cause is under investigation.
