Memorial Day was honored on the Grand Strand.

The Memorial Day ceremonies came to a close across the Grand Strand Monday evening with Myrtle Beach's Military Appreciation Days closing ceremony.
More than 100 people braved the heat to view the annual service. This year, it included a skydive demonstration from three veterans, one pulling a large United States Flag.
It also included a missing man table display from the local Rolling Thunder chapter. Everything from the round shape of the table to each cup placed on it stood for something.
"The vase is tied with a red ribbon, symbol of our continued determination to account for our missing. The slice of lemon on the plate reminds is of their bitter fate," Lorrie O'Day read.
"Let us remember - and never forget their sacrifice," she said.
As a gun salute and taps finished out the ceremony, Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes had a message for those attending.
"Enjoy today, but most of all remember why and how we got here," he said.
