Pawleys Island is known for its sandy beaches and beautiful ocean, but it was the sea of red, white and blue that grabbed the spotlight this 4th of July.

The annual parade down Myrtle Avenue was watched by hundreds of locals and tourists.

Families and businesses competed to see who could create the most patriotic float to honor America's birthday.

Many will return to the beach later Monday afternoon for the Salute from the Shore which starts at the North Carolina line at 1 p.m.
