Crews are still working to restore power in South and West Florence.

Progress Energy officials say the outages were apparently caused by damage to their transmission lines during the storm.

They say the affected areas were in West and South Florence.

Because the outages were so widespread it's taking longer to restore the power to those affected, according to crews.

Nearly 14,000 people lost power at one point in Florence Tuesday night.

As of 11:35pm, according to Progress Energy's online outage map, there were only a few customers still without power. Power is expected to be restored to everyone by 7 a.m. Wednesday.

When the storm came through it knocked down several trees and power lines along Hoffmeyer Road according to Florence firefighters.
