Tuesday, a special primary election was held for the open Florence County Council District One seat.
Two Democrats, Jason Springs and Merril McKnight, ran for the seat.
The unofficial results show Springs is the winner.
Jason Springs - 1,031 votes - 76%
Merril McKnight - 321 votes - 24%
This was a primary election, but no Republican candidates filed, so Jason Springs will run unopposed in the special general election on March 19.
The seat became open when Rusty Smith left in November to become the county administrator.
