Around 30 women gathered Monday at the Coastal Cancer Center in Myrtle Beach for an afternoon of makeovers.

Each woman who attended is battling some form of cancer. The program is intended to help them feel better about their appearance, even if they're not internally feeling that way.

Look Good, Feel Better provides each woman with a make-up kit. They then teach them how to apply the make up. In some cases, they taught women how to compensate for the loss of eyebrows and eyelashes.

The American Cancer Society also provides one free wig to cancer patients. Those wigs are available due to local donations.

The group also got lessons in wig grooming and scarf tying.

Sue Williams was diagnosed with Lymphoma and Bone Marrow cancer in June. She says her cancer treatments have changed her appearance.

"I feel very bare, I feel very not bright, I even feel weak. When I look at myself in the mirror, I see a weak look, and I don't want to look weak," says Williams.

She said the makeover was great because she was able to forget about her cancer for a few hours.

If you would like to donate to the American Cancer Society for the Look Good, Feel Better program you can call area coordinator Tami Floyd Fogleman at 843-448-5365.
