CONWAY -- The mother of one of the country's most well-known comedians told Conway students Friday what it takes to be successful.
Rose Rock, mother of Chris Rock, raised her seven children in Brooklyn, stressing hard work and encouraging them to succeed.
She served as a foster parent to numerous children, hoping to give them too a better future.
"I grew up in a time when the village was real so they are our children. Any time that we push them aside or point fingers and say not my child, we do such a big disservice," said Ms. Rock.
That's why Rose says she's happy to volunteer her time to children along the Grand Strand.
She now lives in Georgetown.
