Myrtle Beach police are investigating a wreck that the victim claims was related to a robbery.

On Friday morning around 3:00, officers responded to the area of Pine Island Rd. and Robert Grissom Parkway for an accident with injuries.

The vehicle was found over a ditch with the driver inside.

The driver said someone was in the vehicle with him and tried to rob him.

He was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for his injuries. Police spoke with him there.

He told police he drove to the Kangaroo gas station on 3rd Avenue South, and saw a man outside of the store who asked him for a ride to Walmart.

The victim said when he was turning onto Pine Island Road, the man pulled a knife on him and demanded all his money, according to the police report.

The victim said he tried to get the knife, and that's when he veered off the road.

He said he woke up to police sirens and the man was gone.

The victim claims he blacked out during the crash and he doesn't know if anything was taken.

He had a cut on his chin, a swollen lip and complained of pain in his arm.
