A place where veterans can find friends, support and a good meal will close on Saturday and will be moving to a different location.

The Veteran's Cafe opened on the former Myrtle Beach Air Force base in 2009 but someone bought the building and now the cafe has to move.

It's close to the VA clinic, so the veterans often stop in around their appointments.

"I couldn't believe that they were kind of throwing us out of here you know, for phone banks, for hotels, come on," said George Bontya, a retired Air Force veteran.

The café is moving into Northgate plaza, at the corner of Highway 17 Bypass and Highway 707.

A waitress from the restaurant organized a poker run fundraiser and barbeque to help pay for relocation costs and upgrades.

The event is Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at Rockin' Hard Saloon in Murrells Inlet.
