A parent who does not have custody of their child went to Lake City Elementary School Wednesday morning to pick up the child, according to Lake City Schools public information officer Brian Huckabee.

Huckabee would not say if the parent was a mother or a father.

The parent was told they were not allowed to have the child and was asked to leave.

The parent refused.

School employees called the School Resource Officer who escorted the parent off campus.

School administrators then placed the school on a modified lock down, meaning all outside doors were locked. It was class as usual inside the building.

Lake City police were made aware of the situation.
