Three beach accesses in the Garden City Beach area are being improved through a grant that was awarded to Horry County.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management grant is paying for improvements to public beach access points at Pine Avenue, Holly Avenue, and Cedar Avenue.
The improvements should be completed by the end of April. They include the installation of water service lines for shower towers, concrete pavers at the street ends, and resurfacing and restriping the parking area.
The street ends will also have new signs and curb stops, new dunes fence and palm trees, new park benches and bike parking racks.
The work is being completed by crews from Horry County Engineering, Public Works, Stormwater and Construction and Maintenance departments.
The county labor was used as the match for the grant funds. The total grant awarded for the project was $136,912.60.
