Arson unit investigating fire at Florence house

Tuesday night, a home on Hoffmeyer Road near Quail Pointe Drive in Florence burned.

The West Florence Fire Department was called to the scene just before 8pm.

Two engines, two tankers, a rescue truck responded with 15 firefighters. Crews contained the fire in about an hour.

There were no reported injuries and the house was reported to be vacant at the time of the fire.

Florence County EMS and Florence County Sheriffs office responded as well.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Florence County Sheriff's Office arson unit.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission also responded because the fire was so close to a wooded area.
