Evelyn Williams pleaded guilty to Misprision of a Felony and was sentenced to one year probation, according to 12th Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements.

Williams helped her son, Deon'te Williams, after he killed the grandmother of his child, Miriam Burgess, in Florence, in April 2011.

Deon'te was sentenced last week to 30 years in prison for the murder.

After Williams killed Burgess, he went to his mother's home. She allowed someone to use her car to drive her son to North Carolina, where he caught a bus to New Jersey.

He was arrested there a few days later.

Williams was initially charged with Accessory After the Fact of a Felony, but she pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

Clements says she had no prior criminal record.
