Myrtle Beach police were sent to the area of King Street and Graham Avenue Monday night for reports of a suspicious package that was beeping, according to a police report.
Officers observed an oval shaped device about three inches wide and six inches long wrapped in tin foil, the report said.
Officers said there were wires coming out of it and it was making a repetitive beeping noise.
A perimeter was sent up and homes close by were evacuated.
The Horry County Bomb Squad and the State Law Enforcement Division were called to investigate.
The area was checked for any other devices and none were found.
The bomb squad and SLED determined the device "had no explosive components or detonators."
The device is still being investigated.
