A man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing the grandmother of his daughter and setting her body on fire.

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) -- A man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing the grandmother of his daughter and setting her body on fire.
Deonte Williams pleaded guilty Friday to murder as part of a plea deal.
Prosecutors say Williams beat and stabbed 44-year-old Mariam Burgess to death in April 2011, leaving her partially-clothed body face down on a love seat.
Authorities say Williams then set Burgess' home on fire. Firefighters found the woman's body.
Burgess' family asked Williams in court why he killed the woman. Williams' attorney says his client has no explanation for the slaying.
