Wiliamsburg County Sheriff Michael Johnson says it appears a man found dead in a house fire on Sleepy Prong Road last week may have been killed before the fire in a murder-suicide.

The body was burned beyond recognition.

Johnson says he believes the man's death is connected to a suicide that took place in Georgetown County.

He says they got a call on February 24 around 1 p.m. Sunday from Georgetown County deputies in reference to a note found at a suicide.

The note led deputies to the burned home in Williamsburg County.

The Wiliamsburg County Coroner's Office still haven't positively identified the man found dead in the fire, but says they're hoping DNA will help, according to Johnson.
