A van crashed into a pole at McCormick and Forestbrook Roads Tuesday around 1 p.m., knocking down power lines, according to the spokeswoman for Horry County Fire Rescue.

The intersection is closed at this time, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

Traffic heading north on Forestbrook Road is being rerouted through Forestbrook Baptist Church to McCormick Road.

Traffic heading south on Forestbrook Road is not being allowed through the intersection.

Several crews are on scene working to restore the down lines.

According to Horry Electric Cooperative, power was out to 1,703 customers. Power has since been restored to all but 11 of them.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

The driver of the van was ticketed for Driving Too Fast for Conditions, Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with Highway Patrol said.

The intersection will be closed until 7 p.m.
