The Myrtle Beach Police Department is forming a Volunteer Cold Case Review Team.

It's looking for retired law enforcement officers with investigative experience who are willing to give their time and expertise to help solve cases where the leads have dwindled and are at a standstill.

Through monthly meetings, they will add a fresh set of eyes to these unsolved cases.

To be considered for the program, an applicant must be a retired law enforcement officer with at least three years of investigative experience, (violent crime investigative experience preferred) and a willingness to give of their time and energy to our community.

This person must be willing to meet at least monthly (more often if needed) and be prepared to work as part of a team.

This assignment does not require field work or provide law enforcement authority to the volunteer members.

This team will meet at the Myrtle Beach Police Department Annex, 3340 Mustang Street, and will be under the direct control of the Captain of the Investigative Division or his/her designee.

A completed volunteer application must be submitted to the Investigations Captain (either in person or by fax (843) 918-1377) to, 1101 North Oak Street, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.

A thorough background investigation will be done and an oral interview with the Cold Case Review Board is required.
