The first band of rain and snow has come and gone with some areas inland only getting a dusting.

Another band of mainly snow showers between Charlotte and Columbia will move into the area through the evening.

As these snow showers roll through, some spots will get a burst of snow that may last 30-40 minutes and produce up to an inch or two of snow primarily on grassy surfaces. The short range forecast models suggest the best chance of that will be in Darlington, Florence and Marion counties.

With the strong dynamics and an unstable airmass, thundersnow is even possible.  Dont be surprised if you see lightning or hear thunder.  Typically in thundersnow, the snow is very heavy.

Rain and snow showers will move through the Pee Dee and Border Belt between 6pm and 10pm and the Grand Strand between 8pm and midnight.

Once this band moves off the coast tonight, skies will rapidly clear and it will get cold quickly. Temperatures will plunge into the 20s and any remaining moisture on bridges and overpasses will freeze.

Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for all communities west of the Grand Strand.

Sunshine with highs in the 40s Sunday.
