A developing storm system and arctic air rushing into the area will produce rain, followed by a changeover to snow Saturday.

The morning will start dry with rain developing mid-morning inland and early afternoon for the Grand Strand.

As the storm system begins to wrap up and pull away, colder air will change rain to snow.

Rain changes to snow from west to east across the Pee Dee and on the Border Belt between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. and between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the Grand Strand. Areas of snow is expected for a few hours.

Because the ground is warm and precipitation initially starts as rain, accumulation will be light.

- None to a Dusting: Little River, North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Garden City, Surfside, Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island, and Georgetown.

- Dusting to 1": Loris, Conway, Florence, Lake City, Marion, Mullins, Lumberton, Dillon, Darlington, Hartsville, and Bennettsville

- 1" - 2": Laurinburg, Cheraw, and Rockingham

All precipitation will be over by midnight, but as temperatures plunge below freezing, any water left on the roads may freeze, especially on bridges and overpasses.
