Tuesday night, Hartsville City Council approved an incentive package for a major hotel.

Hampton Inn is looking to build a four-story hotel at the corner of Fourth Street and Carolina Avenue.

The hotel is a $7 million investment and will provide steady employment for about a dozen people.

Mayor Mel Pennington says the city will sign a contract with the hotel by the end of the week.

Construction will start next month with the hotel opening by December.
