FAIR BLUFF, NC (WWAY) -- An 18-year-old Tabor City man is wanted in connection with dog fighting in Columbus County, North Carolina.

Police in Fair Bluff saw many dogs on a property near the corner of Hamer Street and Park Drive.

Police say the dogs appeared to be mistreated, and many had life threatening injuries.

A search of the area led them to at least three dead dogs across the street from the home.

Two men are being charged in this case.

Police are looking for Xavier Hemingway. He is wanted on six counts of cruelty to animals, assault and battery, as well as 5 other charges.

Hemingway was also charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Loris on Watson street in August.

If you know where Hemingway is, call Fair Bluff Police at (910) 649-7323.
