South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a wreck that shut down Highway 76 in Florence just after midnight on Friday.

They responded to a two-car, head-on collision near the Sonic restaurant.

Both drivers were pinned inside the car at one point, according to witnesses on scene.

Troopers haven't released details of the accident, but we're told two to four people were hurt and are being treated at a Florence hospital.

According to witnesses, some of the victims' injuries appeared to be serious.

Highway 76 is back open.
