A crash in Florence County Saturday afternoon sent one driver to the hospital and another person died. It happened on East Smith Street near Sally Hill Road around 3:15 p.m.
A 41-year-old Darlington man traveling east on East Smith Street crossed the center line and hit another car head on, according to Highway Patrol.
The driver of that car died. Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the victim as Mackrey Brown, 89, of Kingstree.
Charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
