A federal judge is allowing the South Carolina State Ports Authority to take part in a lawsuit challenging its plans to build a $35 million cruise terminal in Charleston.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A federal judge is allowing the South Carolina State Ports Authority to take part in a lawsuit challenging its plans to build a $35 million cruise terminal in Charleston.
U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel signed an order Wednesday allowing the authority to enter the case.
The Preservation Society of Charleston and the South Carolina Coastal Conservation League are challenging a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit for the project.
Both plaintiffs agreed the Ports Authority could participate. But they say they are not agreeing with the authority's position on the terminal.
The plaintiffs say there should have been more federal review by the corps on the effect of the project on the city's historic district.
