The Horry County Grand Jury indicted former State Representative Thad Viers Thursday on Burglary First Degree and Petit Larceny charges, according to Fourth Circuit Solicitor Will Rogers.

In January 2012, Myrtle Beach police arrested Viers after his ex-girlfriend said he continued to call, email, text and visit her after she asked him not to.

In March 2012, he was indicted on one count of Stalking and one count of Harrassment.

March 20, 2012, his ex-girlfriend told police she came home from work and noticed her front door broken. She told police some items had been moved around and a cell phone, computer and a 9 millimeter handgun were stolen.

The new indictment is in connection with that burglary.

Although the four charges were filed in Horry County, the 15th Circuit Solicitor's Office will not handle the case because Viers' ex-girlfriend works in that office. Instead it's being handled by Fourth Circuit Solicitor Will Rogers.

Viers resigned from the House of Representatives in March 2012.

He represented District 68, which includes the Socastee area of Horry County, from 2002-2012.

He was in the process of running for the 7th Congressional District when the harrassment charge led him to withdraw from the race.

Solicitor Will Rogers said the latest indictment is part of "an ongoing investigation of this incident by the Myrtle Beach Police Department and SLED Computer Crimes Center."

Viers will be arraigned on these indictments next week, Rogers said.
