North Myrtle Beach arrested a 16-year-old for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.
Shawn Michael Henderson, of Conway, is charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor.
When the complainant took the 7-year-old to the doctor on January 2, she started to cry when removing her pants for the exam, according to the police report.
That's when she told the complainant and doctor about the assault on December 31, 2012, the report says.
The doctor called police.
The doctor performed a physical exam and collected swab samples that were turned over to police.
Prosecutors are trying Henderson as an adult. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center Tuesday.
He posted $30,000 bail on Tuesday afternoon.
