RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The deadline is approaching for organizations that want to apply for a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council.

The grants support groups and artists who contribute to the economic, educational and cultural vitality of local communities. The N.C. Arts Council administers the grants, and the deadline to apply is Friday, March 1.

Organizations must have been producing quality arts programs for at least two consecutive years to be eligible for the grants.

All applications must be electronically submitted, including support materials. A paper submission of the application won't be accepted.

The N.C. Arts Council invested $6.5 million in grants for arts programming in all 100 counties in the state during the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
