One of Broadway's biggest stars, Tony award winner Ben Vereen, will take the stage at the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach Friday night.

WPDE NewsChannel 15 caught up with him on the Coastal Carolina University campus where he talked with students Friday afternoon.

Vereen has performed on Broadway in shows like Wicked, Fosse, and Pippin.

The special concert will benefit the Pardue Family "Children in Need" fund.

"The idea is to raise funds for these young people who are in need. You know, we need to be very cognizant of our young and what's going on with them, especially during these days and times. They need our support. They need our love," Vereen said.

The show "Ben Vereen Steppin' Out" with the Long Bay Symphony is at 7:30 p.m.
