A fire broke out about 7 a.m. Friday at a home on Robinson View Drive, close to Lake Robinson near Hartsville.

A passerby saw the flames and called 911. Darlington County Fire Interim Chief Kenny Stratton says when crews got to the scene, there wasn't much they could do to save the home.

It was covered in flames and it took firefighters about an hour to contain and control the fire.

Stratton says the house was vacant and up for sale. He says the home was valued between $180,000 to $200,000.

Stratton added they're still trying to make contact with the owners who have moved away.

Investigators with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office called in the State Law Enforcement Division because they need help to determine what caused the fire.

SLED agents are expected to go through the remnants of the home to first figure out where the fire started.

If you have any information on the fire, you're asked to call the Darlington County Sheriff's Office at (843) 398-4501.
