Florence County Council members voted James Schofield as their new chairman.

He replaces Rusty Smith who resigned from council last month to become the Florence County Administrator.

Schofield represents District 8 and has been on council since 2007.

He says he looks forward to serving as chairman and hopes to continue to move Florence County forward.

Al Bradley was named Vice Chairman and Waymon Mumford Secretary/Chaplin.
