A man who was wanted by Myrtle Beach police in connection with armed robberies and burglaries is now in custody.

Richard Gary Powers, 64, is charged with five counts of Burglary, two counts of Armed Robbery, and two counts of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

All of the incidents occurred at hotels along Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach. The first incident dates back to July, with the most recent being on Friday, according to incident reports.

Some of the items Powers stole include a gun, five credit cards, two Canadian passports, designer purses and wallets, liquor, and cash, according to incident reports.

It is not clear whether the stolen gun was used during the armed robberies.

Powers is being held at the Myrtle Beach jail awaiting a bond hearing.

Powers was previously arrested in November on shoplifting charges.
