HORRY COUNTY -- A private ambulance turned on its side in a wreck about 1:40 p.m. Friday at the Garden City Connector and Highway 17 Bypass in Horry County.

A car was driving north on Highway 17 Bypass, when it appears it ran the red light and ran into the ambulance, according to Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with South Carolina Highway Patrol.

No one was in the back of the ambulance, Lance Corporal Collins said.

Both the driver of the ambulance and the driver of the car were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Highway 17 northbound was rerouted for a while. But the road is open again.

No charges have been filed at his point.
