The Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation says it may be time to update your resume.

In 2012, the MBREDC brought more than 400 jobs to our area. The average number for Horry County is 80 per year.

MBREDC is already courting 23 companies to locate in Horry County in 2013.

"23 active projects include about 5,000 jobs, and it's about a billion dollars worth of potential capital investment for our community," said Marking Director Candace Howell.

To put it in perspective, in 2012 the MBREDC only had 15 companies lined up.

The jobs the MBREDC is trying to bring to our area are not minimum-wage jobs. The goal is to have long-term, high-paying wages.

"We're announcing jobs that pay 14, 20, 25 dollars, and we're going to continue that," said Howell.

The MBREDC wants you to be ready for when those jobs become available.

"Sharpen up the resumes, because these jobs are coming, and we want you to be able to fill one of those positions," said Howell.

Howell said the latest project they've unveiled to Horry County Council is Project Volunteer. The details and the name of the company cannot be released yet, but we do know it will bring around 45 manufacturing jobs to Horry County.
