WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) - Around 1 a.m. Saturday, a truck with four teenagers in it ran off the road in Williamsburg County, flipped, and caught fire, killing the driver, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant.

Sidney Andrew Amerson, 19, of Georgetown County was driving the 2003 GMC pickup, said Williamsburg County Coroner Harrison McKnight.

The truck was on Secondary 45, Santee Road, when it went off the road to the right, overcorrected, then ran off the left side of the road, said Wyant.

The truck hit many trees, then overturned and caught on fire, said Wyant.

Amerson died on scene. The three passengers were able to leave the truck on their own.

This crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
