An officer who resigned this week from the Moncks Corner Police Department has been charged exploitation of minors after authorities say they found child pornography on his computer.

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) -- An officer who resigned this week from the Moncks Corner Police Department has been charged exploitation of minors after authorities say they found child pornography on his computer.
The State Law Enforcement Division says 44-year-old Robert Carlton Shirer of Moncks Corner was charged with 20 counts Thursday. He resigned from the police force Monday.
Arrest warrants say investigators uploaded numerous pictures of child pornography through a file-sharing network in July, August and October.
Shirer is being held at the Berkeley County jail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
