North Myrtle Beach Elementary students collected 5,741 items in a canned food drive to benefit the North Strand Helping Hand.
Students and their families, teachers, staff, and community members collected food from November 5-16.
This is the 9th year the school has participated, and it was the most successful drive yet.
Colonel Richard Slater and four NJROTC cadets from North Myrtle Beach High School helped load up the food.
In all, it took four trucks to deliver the canned goods to North Strand Helping Hand on Hwy. 90.
The school passes on thanks to all who donated.
