There's a big rivalry going on this weekend, both on and off the football field. The Clemson Tigers host the South Carolina Gamecocks Saturday night in Death Valley.

And the American Red Cross is hosting a donation battle at its donor centers across the state, including the one in the Carolina Forest area of Horry County.

The Red Cross holds this rivalry blood drive each year in the week leading up to the Carolina Clemson football game.

While some donate for loyalty to their school or team, some have other reasons.

"The school where I'm an administrator, Whittemore Park Middle, we have our hallways labeled by colleges. So I'm the administrator for the Clemson hallway, so I'm donating blood for Clemson," Gary Williams said.

You can make an appointment to donate anytime, by clicking here.
