An Horry County man is hoping to play Santa after his friend died tragically leaving two young children behind.

Monday morning Steve Jarvis, 28, was hit and killed by a tow truck.

Jarvis left behind two small children; Zach, 8, and Zoe, 2.

Jarvis also left behind a friend, Joe Kiernan.

"Steve is by far the most selfless person I have ever met. I don't believe there was ever a moment in that kid's life where he truly put himself before someone else," said Kiernan.

With the holidays approaching Kiernan wanted to take Steve's gift of selflessness and give back to Steve's family.

"I just want to make sure his kids are going to have something special," said Kiernan.

Kiernan will be accepting toys and gift donations for Steve's children.

"It's so close to the holidays we could really do something special and I think a lot of people can learn a lot from this," said Kiernan.

If you would like to donate a gift, you can email Kiernan at jarviskids@yahoo.com.
