(AP) -- GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (AP) - Defending South Carolina Class 4A Division II football champion Goose Creek is in court Friday in an attempt to keep its season going.

Earlier this week, the executive committee of the South Carolina High School League disqualified Goose Creek from the playoffs because the team used an ineligible player. Attorneys for the school are taking to case to a circuit judge in Berkeley County on Friday.

Goose Creek was supposed to host Bluffton on Friday in the second round of the playoffs. Bluffton currently is scheduled to play at home against Conway, a team Goose Creek beat 48-7 last week in the first round.

An attorney representing Goose Creek says he thinks the judge has the authority to overturn the high school league.
