On Monday, 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit agents arrested a man believe to be a member of the Bloods Street Gang in Socastee.

Jotham Simmons, 30, of Horry County was arrested for Distribution of Marijuana, two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and two counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

In July, agents started investigating Simmons after complaints of marijuana sales at 430 Bridleford Drive in the Brandy Mill subdivision, off Socastee Boulevard.

Through the FBI's National Crime Information Center background check, agents determined Simmons was a documented gang member with the Bloods Street Gang.

During Simmons arrest, agents found more than 240 grams of High Grade Marijuana, $1,498.00 in cash, a 20-gauge shotgun with the serial number scratched out, a .45 caliber handgun, a .40 caliber handgun, and a modified .22 caliber rifle.

Simmons is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
