Tracy Edge from his initial arrest
The trial scheduled to begin Wednesday morning for State Representative Tracy Edge has been continued at his request.
Edge represents District 104, which covers the northeastern corner of Horry County, including North Myrtle Beach.
He was arrested on September 27 for Driving Under Suspension.
Tracy Edge's bench trial is rescheduled for November 21 at 9 a.m.
Every person is granted one courtesy continuance, according to North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling. All they need to do is phone in their request for a continuance to the City Clerk, he says.
Edge was driving north on Ocean Boulevard near 41st Avenue North in North Myrtle Beach at 3:51 a.m. September 27, when he crossed over the center line and almost collided with a police officer who was driving south on the same road, according to the police report.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, and dispatchers discovered his license had been suspended for failure to pay a traffic ticket, the report stated.
The officer arrested Edge and gave him a ticket for Driving Under Suspension and a warning ticket for Driving Left of Center.
Edge has served as state representative for District 104 since 1996.
He faces Democrat Charles Randall in the upcoming November election.
This continuance pushes the bench trial date until after the election.
