A teacher at Creek Bridge High School has resigned after making an inappropriate comment to students, according to Superintendent of Marion County Schools Dr. Dan Strickland.

A parent called NewsChannel 15 last Friday to say she was upset over a teacher referring to a group of students as Negroes.

The parent says her child and other students were offended by the comment.

Strickland said the incident was handled as a personnel matter, and the former teacher's name isn't being released.

Strickland added that the teacher was immediately placed on leave. He then tendered his resignation a week later.
