ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WPDE) - NewsChannel 15 has learned seven of the 10 dogs that attacked and killed a Robeson County woman have been put down.
Robeson County Animal Shelter Director Bryon Lashley says the animals were euthanized Friday afternoon.
He says two small dogs remain at the shelter and another was killed in the attack.
Tuesday, Mary Jo Hunt, 54, tried to stop the bigger dogs from attacking a small pug when she was mauled to death.
Deputies say she and her sister rescued the dogs from a county pound.
They were seized following the killing and taken to the county shelter where they stayed until they were put down.
Hunt is described as a woman who loved animals and opened her heart to them.
