Surfside Beach and Myrtle Beach police are both assisting in the search for missing 12-year-old Abigaile Lefevers. She's the subject of an Amber Alert that began Monday evening.
Lefevers is believed to have been taken by registered sex offender Timothy Newman, 38.

Police believe that they are traveling in a 1998 red Chrysler convertible.
New details have emerged in the case where North Carolina police believe that Newman is very knowledgeable of waterways along the East Coast. He is also an experienced truck driver, so he may be traveling along back roads to avoid major highways.
These new details are leading Surfside Beach police to search extra carefully as they are working their shifts.
Officer Chris King says because the of the new details they will be checking beach accesses, crowded parking lots, fast food restaurants, and motels on top of their normal routes.
Tuesday, Surfside Beach Police received a tip that the Sebring was at a nearby grocery store. They followed up on the call, but it was not the right car.
King says that every tip helps.
"It's great that people call, no call is ever annoying. If it turns out to not be him, that's okay." said King. "I'd rather take the call, than someone not call."

Myrtle Beach police say that they have automated license plate searches set up in the city to help find the car as well.
