A Scotland High School student died after an off-season conditioning session Monday afternoon.
Scotland County EMS officials say Tavarius Hall, 17, started having trouble breathing during the workout and collapsed.
They say school personnel were administering CPR when paramedics arrived.
Paramedics attempted to revive Hall at the school but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Scotland County School District spokesman Andy Cagle says Hall had an up to date physical and was medically cleared to take part in the wrestling program's off season workout session.
A trainer was present during the workout, according to Cagle.
He says counselors were at the high school Tuesday to help students cope with Hill's death.
