Horry County firefighters responded to a fire on Retreat Lane in Little River at 9:47 a.m. Friday, to find smoke coming from the garage area of a home and bystanders concerned that a woman was still inside.

Crews searched the home and found the woman in a bedroom at the other end of the home. She was in full cardiac arrest.

They started trying to resuscitate her, and she was taken to McLeod Seacoast Hospital.

She was resuscitated and flown to the Augusta, Georgia burn center for further treatment.

The fire was brought under control at 10:28 a.m.

The home was heavily damaged, and the cause is still under investigation.
