McDonalds employee shot while on break

LAURINBURG, N.C. -- Laurinburg police officers responded to the McDonalds on Biggs Street to look for a man on a bicycle shooting around 12:30 a.m, according to a police report.

The victim was a McDonalds employee who was on break.

The victim said the suspect, Fredrick Lawerence McPhatter, 21, walked up and shot him beside his head.

The shooting caused minor injuries to the victim's right eye and denied medical treatment.

The victim also stated that he gave McPhatter his phone and wallet. McPhatter then fled on his bicycle.

Officers located McPhatter riding across Johns Road and grabbed him as he was fleeing into a ditch.

McPhatter was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, and Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits.

He is secured under a $40,000 bond.
