The City of Conway is working on putting a new pet ordinance on the books.
The proposed law would outlaw log chains on dogs and it would also make leaving a dog in a hot car a ticketable offense.
"Right now the city of Conway has no pet ordinance, and we have been getting a number of complaints from the public," said Catina Hipp with Conway police.
Police proposed the ordinance initially in a city council workshop in late August.
The ordinance would also limit the number of total birds, cats, and dogs in a home to four.
"That is the number that is in the ordinance right now is 4 but there again that is just a baseline to consider, it can go up it can go down . that part of the ordinance proposal can totally go away," Hipp added.
The city of Conway will workshop the proposed law again September 17.
